Energy Australia - Springvale
Brief
Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure was engaged by Veolia Water Australia under a design and construct contract, for the construction of a 14.8 kilometre Water Transfer Scheme from Springvale Mine together with a new Water Treatment Facility at Mt Piper Power Station.
GEM Industrial was commissioned to advise, fabricate and install pipelines from the mine to the treatment plant to transport up to 48 megalitres of water per day (produced from mining operations) for use in the power station.
Delivery
The Mt Piper project was a prefect demonstration of the scope of GEM’s capabilities. From the outset, the client entrusted GEM with a high level of autonomy in the design and management of the project. The initial stage of the project required millimetre perfect precision welding of fabricated HDPE sections constructed from an ISO plan.
GEM’s extensive inventory of equipment enabled everything from pipe transport and handling through to excavation and welding of pipe diametres from 50mm through to 900mm.
As the project progressed, the scope of works was extended to include a lot of the bolt up work to the plant components and on site engineering.
Recently we engaged GEM Industrial to perform mechanical fit out works at our Springvale Energy Australia site.
This journey began when GEM came to Sydney and then to site to confirm their capability and resourcing for this extremely important project.
GEM’s presentation gave us the confidence to proceed with an engagement to perform works. GEM’s commitment once on site confirmed all that was presented to us prior to that engagement.
On a difficult site the crews worked efficiently and where required without any issue. The staff were experienced and great to work with i.e. the working relationship was indeed positive and where future projects I would again engage with GEM knowing that both organisations would have a solid outcome.”
