2025 Municipal Leadership Award Winner

Project Overview

🎉 What a moment! 🎉

Grateful beyond words as GEM Industrial celebrates our second international award. When you wake up in the morning, pick up your phone, and see messages from friends around the world sharing their congratulations—it’s profoundly humbling.

This recognition isn’t just about the projects—it’s about the dedication, grit, and heart our crew puts in every single day. It’s proof that when you live and breathe the best, with no exception, day after day… the world notices.

Proud, humbled, and excited for what’s ahead and a special thanks to the Alliance for PE Pipe

2025 Municipal Leadership Award Winner | Creative Trenchless Installation
Gold Coast Seaway | Queensland, Australia

The City of the Gold Coast installed a large diameter recycled water pipeline beneath sensitive coastal waterways and riverbeds to avoid disruption to major beaches and high traffic tourist areas.

GEM Industrial completed the installation by fusing and pulling approximately 900 meters of 1200 mm (48 inch) SDR 11 HDPE via horizontal directional drilling beneath the Nerang River, with engineering support provided by John Holland Group.

Crews completed 75 fusions using a McElroy MegaMc 1600 at The Spit, managing an active public beach environment through careful staging and daily site coordination. The project supports the city’s long term recycled water strategy while providing additional capacity for future population growth and protecting critical coastal infrastructure.
