We are Hiring - Operations Manager
We build heavy, high-stakes infrastructure.
About us
GEM Industrial delivers complex, large-scale industrial and civil infrastructure across Victoria and beyond. Our work involves heavy plant, major crews, tight compliance and zero margin for error, and we’re respected in the industry for doing it properly. We don’t cut corners. We don’t operate in chaos. Everything we build on site is backed by strong systems, clean numbers and disciplined administration behind the scenes.
That’s where this role comes in.
About the role
As Operations Manager, you lead the delivery side of the business, ensuring projects run safely, efficiently, and in alignment with GEM’s standards and strategic direction.
You oversee day‑to‑day operations, coordinate crews and supervisors, and ensure that every job is delivered with accuracy, compliance, and professionalism. You work alongside the General Manager, maintaining alignment between project managers, field operations, commercial performance, and organisational priorities.
This is not a clipboard role.
You are hands‑on, accountable, and central to how GEM performs on the ground. You bring structure to operations, clarity to planning, and discipline to execution, so crews can work safely, clients get what they were promised, and the business runs predictably.

Thrives in fast‑moving, high‑responsibility operational environments
Leads with steadiness, clarity, and respect
Understands heavy industrial or civil project delivery
Communicates directly and keeps people aligned
Makes decisions based on data, safety, and standards
Holds crews accountable while supporting their growth
Represents GEM professionally with clients, suppliers, and regulators
You take pride in running clean, safe, well‑organised operations, and you don’t tolerate chaos, shortcuts, or guesswork.

Maintain a culture of accountability, respect, and pride in workmanship
What you’ll bring
Proven experience in operations, project delivery, or field leadership
Strong understanding of industrial, civil, or infrastructure environments
Practical, disciplined, and solutions‑focused mindset
Confidence coordinating crews, equipment, and complex workflows
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Commitment to safety, compliance, and high standards
